Any disease or disorder is diagnosed based on its symptoms. It is very difficult to diagnose something like as its symptoms in a lower degree can be found in any normal being also. Only when it becomes inappropriate and of high intensity these behaviors are considered symptoms of ADHD. A person's symptoms have to be present "for at least six months to a point that is disruptive and inappropriate for developmental level" to be called ADHD.
Some children, especially little boys are very naughty. Little urchins manage to give you a headache with their big mischiefs. children and the people around them have difficult times. Can you imagine your child being irritable and jumping from one place to another not being able to concentrate? It happens to many children but when inattentiveness and hyperactivity persist over a course of few months they require medical attention. symptoms go on to disrupt the normal life of a person making any task or social relation impossible for him.
The subtypes of the disorder are categorized based on the symptoms seen in the patient. Predominantly Inattentive Type, Hyperactive/Impulsive type, Combined Type and Not otherwise specified type are the four subtypes of ADHD. Some people do not consider the fourth type as a subtype at all.

The Combined Type person shows the combined symptoms of the first two subtypes. Some people may show symptoms of but these may not be enough to categorize them into a subtype or to reach a full diagnosis. They form the forth subtype. The symptoms of impulsiveness and hyperactivity may not appear in adults as they are not required to remain seated or silent for a long time as in school going children. They carry with them the symptoms of inattention. Adults may seem calm but remain restless inside.
