ADHD kids are special children that need a little organization in their daily life. The child may exhibit inattentiveness, impulsiveness, unable to organize, forgetfulness, unable to follow directions, and talking too much. kids may have a hard time getting along with peers, a hard time at school and a hard time at home.
To help kids a parent can become more structured around the home. Have a set routine your child can follow. For instance, when the child gets up in the morning have a list. The list could be as follows:
John's List
Go to the bathroom
Brush my teeth
Get dressed
Eat my breakfast
Take my book bag to the school bus
Your child can check off each item he/she has to complete before going to school. This will make life much less stressful at home in the morning. A lot of kids need reminders on what to do such as being told five times to brush his/her teeth. You may want to reward your child at the end of each morning with a sticker star.
Once your child gets home have another list as follows:
Snack time
Homework time
Play outside for fifteen minutes or indoors if it is raining
Eat dinner
Small chore
Play
Story time
Brush my teeth
Bed
If your child completes the tasks at hand, you may want to give him/her another star as an award.
Your child also may
need a special diet. The diet is rich in proteins such as meats, peanut butter, nuts, cheese, eggs, and beans.
The diet for your Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder should also include complex carbs. Fruits and vegetables have complex carbs. Excellent fruit sources include oranges, tangerines, apples, pears, and kiwi.
Omega-3 fatty acids are in addition to the protein and complex carbs. Foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acid are tuna fish, salmon, white fish, olive oil, Brazil nuts, and walnuts. You can add nuts to a lot of dishes if your child does not like to eat them plain.
Foods your child should stay away from are sugary cereals, candy, potatoes with their skin off, rice, items with white flour in, and honey.
The diet is not anything difficult to get used to. Most people should be eating these foods for their health as it is. Your entire family can benefit from eating as this diet is listed.
Your kid should get twenty to thirty minutes of exercise every day. This will help your child to move around and let out any pent up energy. This will help your child focus.
You may notice a change in your child's behavior for the better if following this diet, exercising, and becoming more organized at home. http://www.adhd-survival-guide.com
